"The real barrier to leadership performance is rarely the one that gets addressed"
— Makeda Alleyne

Leadership Development Specialist

The most expensive leadership problems are the ones that never get named.

The barriers holding your leaders back rarely show up in a skills assessment or a performance review. Makeda Alleyne works with organisations to address what's actually in the way.

The Real Leadership Gap

Most leadership
development works
from the outside in.
That's why it doesn't stick.

The slow decisions. The avoided conversations. The leader who holds it together in the good times and quietly destabilises when the pressure goes up.

These are the visible problems. But they're not the real ones.

What's actually driving them operates one level deeper — in the confidence gap, the self-doubt, and the fear that capable leaders carry quietly into every high-stakes moment. It doesn't show up on a skills assessment. It doesn't get flagged in a performance review.

And when the real problem goes unaddressed, the cost is tangible. Decisions get delayed. Performance issues fester. High-potential leaders plateau or leave. Teams take on the anxiety of leaders who can't hold steady under pressure.

Most leadership development addresses the visible problem and leaves the real one untouched. Which is precisely why it doesn't stick.

Grounded Authority works differently.

What Makes This Different

Most programmes
change what leaders
do. This one changes
who they are.

Most leadership development assumes there is a skills gap, so they work on what leaders know and what they do. But teaching someone to delegate doesn't address why they can't let go. Teaching resilience doesn't address why they fall apart under pressure. Teaching someone to speak with authority doesn't address why they don't trust their own judgement.

The skill isn't the problem. What's driving the behaviour is.

Grounded Authority works from the inside out, addressing the fear, the self-doubt, and the emotional patterns at the root. Not by adding confidence on top of self-doubt. By removing what creates the self-doubt in the first place.

When that shifts, everything shifts too. Decisions sharpen. Performance improves. Results follow.

About Makeda

Two decades in. Still
working on the thing most people skip.

Makeda Alleyne is a leadership development specialist with two decades of experience, including four years managing executive education programmes at London Business School for organisations such as Deutsche Bank, Ericsson, and Carlsberg.

But here's what the CV doesn't tell you.

Across years of working with leaders, Makeda kept noticing the same thing. Capable, high-performing people, quietly struggling. Not with skills. With themselves. The self-doubt that follows them into the boardroom. The fear that whispers loudest exactly when they need to be decisive. The deep, exhausting uncertainty about whether they truly belong in the rooms they've worked so hard to get into.

The problem wasn't what they knew. It was what was getting in the way of them using it.

So that became the work. Not the polished, framework-heavy version of leadership development. The real version. The one that actually moves the needle, because it goes where most programmes won't.

Makeda has done her own inner work. She knows what it feels like to lead from fear and self-doubt, and she knows what changes when that shifts. That knowing is in everything she does.

What People Say

The results are felt by leaders.
The impact is seen by organisations.

  • "She helped me to believe in myself and the kind of leader I can be — taking action instead of letting self-doubt, fear, and worry hold me back."

    Fiona Bickett
    Higher Education Professional

  • "In just eight weeks I was able to remarkably change my perception of myself and the negative narratives affecting me. My confidence is back, I am more self-aware, I am facing my fears and insecurities head on, and I no longer need validation from anyone but myself. I can now say without a shadow of a doubt that I am brilliant, I am enough, and I strongly believe it."

    Magna Sadia Anthony
    HR Professional

  • "Working with Makeda provided me with a new level of insight into how I work. She is skilled at asking key questions to prompt internal reflections. This allowed me to see more efficient working options and ultimately add better balance to my working life. Rather than giving me fish, she taught me how to fish."

    Nariba Gittens
    Associate Director

  • "I started this programme a bit on the sceptical side. Her embracing demeanour made me feel comfortable from the get go. The sessions were extremely eye-opening and forced me to face my own limiting beliefs head on and I left with a confidence I hadn't felt in years."

Speaking

The same conviction. A different format.

If you've read this far, you already know Makeda has a point of view. On a stage, that point of view becomes an experience.

Makeda speaks at leadership conferences, team days, and organisational events, bringing the same inside-out perspective to live audiences with the directness, warmth, and occasional well-timed provocation that make people sit up, lean in, and leave with something they didn't arrive with.

No death by PowerPoint. No hype that fades on the drive home. The kind of talk that makes people leave the room is genuinely different from how they walked in.

Let's Talk

Let's talk about your leaders

Not a sales call. Not a pitch. Just a real conversation about where your organisation is, what your leaders are up against, and whether Grounded Authority is the right fit.

If it is, brilliant. If it isn't, you'll still leave the call with something useful.

That's a promise.
